Product updates and the story behind building BOOTH.
Search Shows How a Shop Is Hiring
Every published shop has an open chair, so "open booths" told a barber nothing. Search now reads the job posts owners publish (title, pay, schedule, specialties) and puts them on the card, along with chairs open and rental cadence. Shops with a posted job rank first, and words like "commission" or "fades" find them.
Price Filter on Search
One control, right of the results: Any price, Under $500, $500 to $1,000, or Over $1,000 a month. Chairs, plan, and hiring filters were tried as rows and removed. Where you want to work is what the search box is for.
Search Reads Cleaner
City labels are normalized, so "chicago, Illinois" and "Chicago, IL" are one place, and international shops read as "London, UK" instead of "London, Greater London." The search pill and chips now follow the Figma spec (near-black glass fill, hairline stroke inside), the rotating headline and placeholder trade off on one slow beat with a soft drift instead of a fast bounce, the pinned search bar floats over results without a black slab behind it, and the signed-in header pill says Dashboard instead of Learn more.
Pricing Page on the Glass Design System
The owner plan sat in a flat gray box and the audience switch was painted light on a dark page. Both now use the same glass surfaces, tab control, and light/dark toggle as the landing and articles.
Barber Booths Page Rebuilt
Your Booth Rentals is a grid of chair cards (the floor plan's booth tile, turned to face the barber) with the shop, city, and what the chair costs. Upcoming Sessions is a week strip plus a card grid: shop logo on every card, the shop's own slot hours, a live chip on today's session (Starts in 2h, Locked · Done @5PM, Wrapped up), and tap to reveal Reschedule or Cancel, which now works on a phone. Booth Payments matches the Documents list. Team Roster left the page.
Sessions Page Shows Every Plan
A barber renting at two shops has two plans, and the page only ever showed the first. A switch at the top now moves between shops; the plan card shows progress, the calendar marks your own days, and the session grid is the same one Booths uses.
Dashboards Default to Light Mode
The app followed the phone's system setting, so a phone in dark mode opened the barber and owner dashboards dark without anyone choosing it. Light is the default now; the Light / Dark toggle under Account still wins.
Loading Counts Up
Full page loads show a number climbing toward 99 instead of three pulsing dots, so a wait reads as progress rather than a spinner.
Article: Making the Barber Market Searchable
A founder piece on why search is the next layer of BOOTH: barbers have always found opportunity through other barbers, and the network that already exists between shops, cities, and events should be more visible. Honest that supply is still being built. It ships with a new drawn thumbnail: a barber's route across a city.
Every Article Rewritten in the BOOTH Voice
All ten existing articles rewritten to a new editorial guide, in two voices: Eduardo on product and thesis, Paul on numbers, finance, and operations. Facts, figures, product steps, dates, and thumbnails are unchanged. The booth mark now sits on both bylines.
Editorial Voice Guide
docs/editorial-voice.md sets how BOOTH writes: observe the industry before the technology, say plainly what exists today versus what's being built, end on the idea rather than a slogan. 700 to 900 words, four to six sections, one idea each.
